MINI-BEAM Expert Hard Disk Detection

Because the disk surfaces are shiny, it is difficult for many sensors to detect whether a hard disk is properly seated in a hard drive. The divergent-beam MINI-BEAM Expert sensor is mounted above a conveyor transporting hard disks, mounted in their open hard disks. When the sensing beam is directed onto a perpendicular specular surface, such as a properly seated hard disk, more light is returned to the receiver element. The sensor is programmed to recognize a predetermined amount of returned light. The MINI-BEAM sensors trigger the MINI-BEAM Expert .

Objective:
To detect whether shiny disks are properly seated

Sensor Models:
MINI-BEAM Expert SME312DVQD, MINI-BEAM
