PresencePLUS Drive Shaft Orientation Inspection

If a drive shaft is oriented incorrectly, the tooling on the CNC machine will break. The robot arm lifts and orients the drive shaft so that one end is positioned under the PresencePLUS sensor. The sensor takes a picture of the drive shaft section, inspecting for a ridge in the shaft. The sensor is positioned at a 45ª angle to theshaft, so the ridge, if present, will reflect light back to the sensor. If the ridge is detected, the shaft is oriented correctly and the robot arm will be prompted to insert it into the CNC machine. If the ridge is not detected, (no light reflected back to the sensor), the inspection will fail.


Objective:
To verify that a drive shaft is oriented properly on a robot arm before insertion into a CNC milling machine
