MINI-BEAM Sensing Wafer Cassette Presence

Silicon wafers are transported from one process to another in a cassette. These cassettes are moved via a conveyor. An opposed-mode fiber optic is located on each side of the conveyor. When the cassette is present, the opposed beam is broken. L2 lenses are used on the PIT46U fiber optic cables to extend the sensing range.


Objective:
To sense the presence of a wafer cassette on a conveyor
